Introduction to UnboundBytes

import { Card, CardGrid } from ‘@astrojs/starlight/components’;

UnboundBytes is a self-hosting platform that lets you run production-grade applications on your own infrastructure with enterprise-level security and reliability—without the enterprise complexity.

Think of it as “managed infrastructure for self-hosters.” You get the simplicity of one-click app deployment combined with the peace of mind of automatic backups, real-time monitoring, and end-to-end encryption.

Self-hosting shouldn’t be a trade-off between convenience and reliability. Other platforms force you to choose:

  • Coolify/CapRover: Easy setup, but fragile infrastructure
  • Yunohost: Good intentions, manual everything
  • Kubernetes: Production-ready, but requires a team of engineers
  • UnboundBytes: Easy setup WITH enterprise patterns

What we’ve done is take the security, monitoring, and backup patterns that enterprises use (and pay consultants $100k+/year for) and included them by default.

Choose from 25+ pre-configured applications and deploy them to your server with zero configuration. Everything runs on YOUR hardware. No vendor lock-in, no data mining, no surprise policy changes. Set it and forget it. Automated backups get tested monthly to ensure they actually work. See what's happening with Prometheus + Grafana dashboards. Know about problems before they become crises. Encrypted configuration, HMAC authentication, multi-tenant isolation. Enterprise security built in from day one. One account works across all your self-hosted apps via identity federation. No password juggling.

You’re a good fit for UnboundBytes if:

  • You want to self-host applications but don’t want to become a full-time sysadmin
  • You value privacy and want your data on YOUR hardware
  • You’re comfortable with basic Linux/Docker but want something that “just works”
  • You need reliability—you want backups that are tested, not just hoped for
  • You want professional infrastructure patterns without the professional price tag

You might not be a fit if:

  • You’re looking for a shared hosting platform (we’re self-hosted only)
  • You need 24/7 enterprise support with SLAs (we’re community-driven)
  • You want a fully managed, hands-off experience (you still manage the server)
